As a Northeastern student, you'll have access to a variety of university housing, including student housing that is either owned or leased by Northeastern. Our Housing and Residential Life Teams are committed to fostering a safe and close-knit community no matter which campus or program you are a Northeastern student in.
All Boston students are required to live in university housing for their first two years. First-year students live in one of our popular Learning Communities (LLCs)—themed housing environments that connect students of similar academic and personal interests. LLCs are a great way to enrich your academic experience outside of the classroom, and to form long-lasting bonds with other students who share the same values and enjoy the same activities.
Most new students will share a room with one or two other students in traditional, co-ed residence halls that house between 75 and 700 students. Two of the larger halls each offer a dining hall and common study areas.
Northeastern University Oakland housing includes various traditional, suite, and apartment-style residence halls located on our beautiful 135-acre campus. All Oakland students are required to live in university housing for their first two years. Further, all students are guaranteed university housing for four years, subject to meeting the required application and deposit deadlines. If students transition to the Boston campus for their second year, they will have access to university housing, guaranteed for the first year in Boston, if they meet the required application and deposit deadlines.

During your London Scholar experience, you’ll live in university housing in London alongside your cohort. When you transition to Boston for your second year, you’ll have access to university housing, with space guaranteed for your first year in Boston if you meet the required application and deposit deadlines.
For London Double Degree students, in your first year you will live in the University's recommended student accommodation partner properties. These accommodations have been selected for their central locations, comfort, excellent facilities and security features, and will have University staff living alongside students to provide support and guidance. From the second year on, students can choose to remain in student halls or to rent private accommodation with fellow students.
During your Global Scholars experience, you’ll live in university housing in Oakland and London alongside your cohort. When you transition to Boston for your second year, you’ll have access to university housing, with space guaranteed for your first year in Boston if you meet the required application and deposit deadlines.
During your fall semester in The N.U.in Program, you’ll live alongside your cohort and on-site support staff near your partner institution. When you transition to Boston during the spring semester, you’ll be required to live in university housing during the remainder of your first and entirety of your second year, with space guaranteed for this period.
